Life Rituals

There are so many important rituals that mark our lives, whether that be little things like getting our driver’s license or bigger things like the naming of a child, or coming out of the closet. Each of these occasions is something to mark. Our lives are now shaped differently than they were before. I am excited to work with you to create rituals for whatever in your life needs celebrating.

Naming and Re-Naming

When we welcome a child into the world, announce them to our loved ones, we give them a name. It is carefully chosen to reflect not only who we know them to be, but what we hope for them.

Sometimes the name we were given was wrong. Perhaps for the wrong gender, perhaps we have just entered a new time in our life and we look at that name and it isn’t us anymore. Claiming a new name that we gift ourselves has power and is a big step in proclaiming who we are to the world. It deserves to be celebrated.

Designing a ritual to name someone of any age is a tender and important process whether it is for yourself or for someone else. Our first meeting is free so that we can get to know each other.

Other Rituals

Some life events don’t fall easily into one category, and maybe we haven’t had a ritual for them before, but it feels empty to not do anything.

Some of these include un-fasting of the hands when a couple decides to end their marriage, the warming of a new home, first menstruations, first binders, coming out, the beginning or end of chemotherapy, the first year of sobriety, anything!

Rituals for these milestones are a wonderfully creative and vulnerable process for such personal celebrations. We keep these times in our hearts. Our first meeting is free so that we can get to know each other before we begin to craft the ritual.
